1 - Give the audience what they want
Have a clear benefit to an audience in your presentation, with key takeaways. It will help you to create a well-received session and improve the return on the time, or resources, you’ve invested.
2 - Time is limited
Don’t waste it introducing people, or companies, in-depth, or letting them introduce themselves at length. Our website and app provide their name, job title and bio and interested people will look at these before or during your talk.
3 - Plan your session
Whether it’s a panel of experts, or a solo presentation never ‘wing it’. Talking through the topic, allows you to shape questions, gain external perspectives and insights into how it will be received by the audience. Panels should always have a discussion amongst themselves to surface the themes they want to cover and ensure that everyone’s getting a fair amount of airtime.
4 - Show don’t tell
How can you enrich your presentation with imagery and video? It gives you contextual content to push out afterwards which can help leverage your social engagement and makes the most of the A/V available on stage.
5 - Not a minute more, not a minute less
Make sure your presentation runs to time. The team can help you on the day, but it’s only by rehearsing and checking your pacing can you ensure you finish in good time for questions and you can help us to run our event to time. If you’d like, we can activate polls and audience questions on our app. The time for such audience engagement will need to be accounted for within your total 30-minute window. Please let us know in advance of the event if you’d like us to activate audience interaction.
6 - Words have meaning
If you want to present a new piece of technology, think about how it works from the practitioners’ or leaders’ perspective, they want evidence of success and a business case to support getting it. Can you deliver that information? If so, do. Don’t focus on the features but focus on the benefits.
7 - Shout it from the rooftops
Don’t hide the fact you’re speaking at UNLEASH under a rock. If you talk about it, we’re more likely to amplify it and visitors are more likely to pinpoint your talk as ‘a must attend’. Some of our speakers have gone from zero to hero all because they’ve graced one of our theatres and shared the news far and wide. If you would like personalized assets to share across social media, let us know and we will provide them!
